The Spoken Dialog Group at Honda Research Institute conducts research on next generation in-car, as well as human-robot, spoken interfaces. Our approach is based on probabilistic methods of speech understanding, belief tracking and dialog management. We are looking to hire a researcher to complement our efforts in these areas. The candidate will be responsible for research, design and implementation of spoken and multimodal dialog systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: Natural Language Understanding, Speech Processing, Machine Learning, Probabilistic Reasoning, Multimodal Interaction. Knowledge of Java, and/or C++ is required. Candidates will be expected to design novel ideas, and implement and communicate their work for demonstration and research publication. Candidates should have a PhD degree with a demonstrated exceptional track record in previous related work experience.

This is a 3-year position with a possibility of further extensions or transition to a permanent position at the company discretion.
