A joint team of University of Lorraine, Inria, and CNRS, Multispeech focuses on spoken human-machine interaction, with particular attention to (1) data-efficient and privacy-preserving machine learning for speech processing, (2) information extraction from multimodal (i.e., acoustic, facial, articulatory, and gestural) speech, and (3) multimodal speech synthesis. We are currently expanding towards multimodal dialog, aiming to break the classical dialog management scheme to dynamically account for the user’s behavior during the machine’s response. Our research crystallizes into a software platform for the development of embodied voice assistants and aims to achieve concrete economic and social impact in the fields of healthcare and education.
